Leaf Springs for Trailer With 26" Long Leaf Springs and 5,100 lb Axle

Updated 08/15/2025 | Published 07/18/2025

Question:

I am looking at upgrading my suspension on a tandem axle of our fifth wheel trailer. I currently have a 4 leaf and want to change it to a 5 leaf springs. I got a eye to eye measurement if 26 inch but not finding any 5 leaf springs in that lenght. I keep seeing 25.25 inch for a 5 leaf springs. What product would I need to fit my trailer? Ive attached a picture of the axle identification and the trailer specs.

Hi Sid; when you say upgrade are you only talking about a spring with an additional leaf added in? This can help a little bit with sturdiness over time but the rating will still be the same for a 4-leaf or 5-leaf. Also, are your leaf springs in pretty good shape or have they flattened out? The eye to eye measurement isn't as reliable if they're worn since they flatten over time. I do recommend getting the flat length to find the closest replacement. See the attached article on how to measure.

Since that is a D52 axle we can assume your current leaf springs are rated for 5,200 lbs. If your leaf springs have flattened out over time you may be able to use the 6-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 5,300-lb Trailer Axles - 24-7/8" Long # e76SR. This has a slightly higher rating and will add in 2 additional leaves. The flat length on this leaf spring is actually 26-1/2" so you can see how if it flattened out you would get a measurement similar to yours now.

If 26" is what you need you could go with the 6-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 6,000-lb Trailer Axles - 26" Long # e94SR. This adds in another two leaves and has a higher 6k rating as well. The flat length on this leaf spring is 28".

If neither of these match up let me know what you find and I can see what else is available.

Hey Sid, did you have a chance to check the condition of your current leaf springs and measure the flat length? I'm curious to know if either of the 6-leaf options worked for your trailer. Let me know how it goes, as it could really help others in a similar situation!
