Can Slide Our Gears Be Easily Replaced At Home

Question:
the little gears for the big slide have frozen up. two teeth on the drive gear have broken off. the other may still be frozen. Can i replace the gears at home? are there videos available for the forest river wildcat? thank you

Hello Don, thanks for reaching out. We do carry a few replacement gears for slide outs. I would need more information from you in order to recommend the correct gear though. I would need a part number and/or a detailed description of the gear. There is no way to look up your camper to know what you would need.
For example, the Replacement Lippert Hex Gear # LC59ED has 16 teeth and works with most Schwintek RV slide-outs. Let me know what you have.
Replacing slide out parts can be tricky. Generally this would not be something you could do at home. Unless you are familiar with working on and repairing RV slide outs I would have to recommend you take it to a professional RV tech.
