Older absorption refrigerators can make food storage feel like a gamble once your trip hits hot weather or long drive days. This Vitrifrigo uses an internal compressor cooling system with separate refrigerator and freezer doors, giving your food dedicated cold storage that keeps working while the rig is in motion. Groceries stay chilled, frozen meals stay frozen, and your travel day doesn't have to start with a cooler backup plan.
Power planning matters when your refrigerator has to run at camp, on the road, or away from hookups. This unit runs on 12 or 24V DC and 100 to 240V AC, with a 65-watt nominal power draw that gives your electrical system clear numbers to work with. Hi, everybody. Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a real quick look at this Vitrifrigo Stainless Steel RV Refrigerator with Freezer. Now this fridge is going to run on AC or DC power, and so it's gonna be just as comfortable off grid as it is at a campground. The internal compressor is designed to be compact and energy efficient. That's gonna help conserve power while leaving more room for what matters inside.
So this is going to be a smart, low draw solution for van lifers, boaters, and more. Before we go any further, let's get some measurements here for you just so you can be confident that this is going to work for you. So let me go ahead and begin with the width first. So it looks like we're sitting almost 25 inches wide. And then looking at the height, and by the way, I do have this on a, what I call a floor dolly, so I can roll this around a little bit easier so I can show you all the angles.
So this is sitting a little bit higher for me during our video here than it will when you actually get it. So including the flange here, we're sitting pretty close to 53 and three quarters inches tall. And then without the flange, right at about right at about 53 inches or so. And then the overall depth, we're sitting right at about 23 and 11 16ths inches, almost 24 inches deep. So hopefully that gives you a good idea of what to expect in regards to the size and if this will work for your particular application.
As you can see, we do have separate doors for the fridge and the freezer. That's gonna help maintain consistent temperatures and prevent cold air loss when you're just grabbing for one thing. And it does have built-in lights as well. So you're gonna be able to see what's going on when you're grabbing that midnight snack. Let me go ahead and change the view here just a little bit.
I'm gonna give view kind of a side angle. Let me go ahead and give it a quick turn just so you can, again, see all the angles here. And so this is going to be because of the stainless steel finish, it's going to be, I think, very flexible in regards to how it can fit into your decor. So here's your AC, and then your wires here for the DC connection. So that's gonna be all down there. And then I wanna line this back up again so I can open up the doors and try to give you a view of the inside. So let me center that up there a little bit. So it might kind of trick you, especially up here. At first when you're pulling the handle, you think it might come down. And I'm just gonna open up just like a normal refrigerator that you have at home. So give you a little bit of a view in here. It might be hard for you to see at that angle, but we do have our temperature setting, a dial right up there in the top right corner. So we do have these shelves here. Looks like they're gonna be adjustable and they're gonna be very secure in there, so you're not gonna have to worry about them accidentally sliding out during while going down the road. We've got our little crisper drawers here. And I believe that shelf above, I believe that's a glass shelf it sounds like. And then on our door we've got these shelves for like condiments, like salad dressing, ketchup, mustard, things like that. And this bottom shelf here has a rod here for the taller items. So they're not going to flip out. The total volume of this fridge is 8.1 cubic feet. And then the freezer here is going to be 2.1 cubic feet. And we have our light here. And then these are going to be the vents and the instructions that come with it. You're gonna get two mini ice cube trays. And so here's our freezer section. And so this is gonna be, I think, very roomy for its size. It's gonna look great and it has a really nice, firm shut. We've got these handles here that are obviously going to keep the door shut. But I also wanted to point out that when you're not using this, Vitrifrigo has, at least to my knowledge in all of their fridges, the option to vent. So it'll keep the door ajar. So I just slid this portion out, which might be kind of difficult for you to see. But that'll click in just like that, and it'll keep the door ajar as you can see. So when you're not using this in the off season, you're not gonna have to worry about musty odors, mold or anything like that, since fresh air is gonna be able to get in. And then when you're ready to use that, you're just going to push the releases here and then slide that in, just like that. That'll be flush. And then that'll allow you to close it. So a nice, satisfying close. The doors are reversible so you can have them open up the other way as well. You're just gonna have to swap out the hinges there. So whether it's going to be a custom van build or a replacement upgrade, this fridge is really made to fit nearly any type of RV or camper. The adjustable flange here is going to let you install it flush with your cabinetry or leave it out for a more of a proud, more flexible layout. And once it's in place, as we mentioned, our airlock latches are gonna keep the doors sealed tight. Even when the road gets rough, your fridge will stay put, and so will your food. Now this fridge will keep things relatively quiet with that internal compressor I mentioned. You're not gonna have to worry about annoying droning sounds or anything like that. You are gonna get the trim piece here with some screws, and you saw the instructions in the vent as well. The refrigerator is working well. Install was easy. It took a few days to get the temperature dialed in. We are doing a lot of boondocking in warmer temps and we are hoping this will solve the warm temp problem our absorbtion frige couldnt deal with. So far our battery system has been handling it fine.

I bought this Vitifrigo to replace our old, discontinued Norcold DE0061 in our Class B custom van. Even though our Norcold was a cu ft smaller, the 8.1 cu ft Vitrifrigo fit in the same opening with only a tad bit of cabinet shaving in one spot…
I love the looks of the Vitrifrgo, love the extra refrigerator and freezer space, and love the interior light—it’s nice and bright and illuminates the whole fridge. There is lots of shelf space inside, I love the two crisper drawers, and love that we no longer have to push the doors hard to lock them in place before driving (our plastic door locks broke on the Norcold.)
I also like the vent locks on both doors, which keeps them ajar when not in use to help with air circulation to prevent mold and mildew inside.
The Vitrifrigo is heavy duty, and made with metal parts. It is well built, and runs much quieter than our old Norcold. I ran it for a couple of days with thermometers in both the fridge and freezer. There are 7 temperature levels on the Vitrifrigo and Setting 5 efficiently maintained the desired temps in hot, humid Florida.
The Vitrifrigo greatly impressed our installers, too. So much so that one of our traveling RV repairmen plans to buy one for his van... Neither of them had heard of Vitrifrigo, but from its unboxing to its installation, they had nothing but good things to say about the refrigerator… I look forward to my upcoming solo camping trip so I can enjoy our new refrigerator…
Great fridge, nearly perfect replacement for the old Dometic and only required a 1/2" riser to be set in the cabinet to keep it centered in the opening. Was a little concerned about the noise of the compressor unit however this is so quiet I can barely hear it.
This unit replaced our 2005 Norcold N641 that had been converted to a 12 VDC compressor 7/15/21 that has not been a great purchase. The fridge is in a 2006 Living quarters trailer.
I contacted Christine A. via chat on Monday 7/20/26 looking for a different Vitrifrigo unit that was not in stock. She sent me the info for this unit that was in stock and I ordered it Monday morning. The communication was outstanding from Andy on tracking and updates. The fridge was delivered Friday afternoon. Prior to installing the fridge, I plugged it into 120 VAC power and within 3 hours it was at 38 deg F in the fridge and 10 deg F in the freezer in an 84 deg F garage. This fridge was a tight fit in the cabinet opening that the Norcold was in. I did not have to modify the cabinet width, as I thought would be needed. My wife and I installed the fridge last night with zero issues by removing the doors and trim to save weight. When I connected the 12 VDC connection to the trailer house batteries, the fridge turned on and started cooling. When I plugged the fridge into the 120 Volt trailer outlet, it switched off the batteries and went to shore power drawing only 0.6 amps. The dual voltage feature is great, and our Predator 5000 will not even notice it!
You get what you pay for, the quality, fit and finish are great.The staff at Etrailer were helpful from start to finish. The trucking company was also great to deal with and tracking updates on the day of delivery.
This refrigerator is a perfect fit for our 2017 Airstream international 27 FB. The original refrigerator was a Dometic RM3762, and it fit the space perfectly. I used some scraps of 3/8 inch plywood along the sides to give the screws on the mounting flange something to bite into, but I didn’t have to modify the factory Airstream cabinetry at all. It took about 3 hours (1/4 of the time of the old thermal absorption fridge) to drop to set temperature after first plugging it in. Camping with temperatures in the low 90s, it stays nice and cold. We received it on time as well, so it was very fast shipping.
I have a 2022 Arctic Fox truck camper. It came with a Norcold N7LX.3FL, 7 cubic foot 3 way refrigerator. Norcold had to replace the ammonia absorption refrigerator twice do to poor cooling performance. On my third unit I would have droplets of water inside the freezer no matter what the outdoor ambient temperature was.
I am so glad I purchased this Vitrifrigo 12v/120v Freon refrigerator. I have 860 watts of solar power on my roof. My batteries are normally back to 100% between noon and 1pm.
The freezer is typically between 0 and 5 degrees F with a refrigerator temperature between 34 -36 degrees. Ice cream was not an option with the Norcold RV refrigerator.
Fit: The Vitrifrigo refrigerator fit without any modifications in the same opening as the Norcold so the installation was easy.
Now I can drive down the road with the refrigerator on 24/7.
The refrigerator draws ~ 5 amp DC.
I love this refrigerator. I feel it was worth every penny. I hope I never own another ammonia absorption refrigerator again.
I did have to reduce the convection opening at the back of the refrigerator to achieve the freezer temperatures I wanted without freezing items in the refrigerator. (See photo).
