Hello, I have a Sherpa rack on my Tacoma truck topper and I’m looking for a lift assist kayak rack to hold a 77lb kayak. What do you suggest? Thank you!

Hey Alex! Based on your kayak weight and the design of that rack the best option is the Yakima Kayak Roof Rack w/ Tie-Downs # Y04083-04082. This rack is capable of holding 80 lbs so it can handle the 77 lb kayak. Although it doesn't have your traditional lift assist, you will be able to load your kayak from the rear and roll it up onto the rack.
Most side loading carriers with a lift assist don't have a high enough capacity since they top out at 75 lbs. The Yakima ShowDown # Y04081 can handle 80 lbs but it needs the crossbars to extend 3-1/2" out beyond your typical roof rack towers so that won't work with the Sherpa rack.
