Is there a Plug In Wiring Harness for Flat Towing a 2024 Ford Bronco?

Updated 07/08/2025 | Published 06/24/2025

Question:

I am setting up a 2024 Ford Bronco Outer Banks 4d w/ 2.3l / LED Tail LIghts for flat tow. Is there a wiring harness for flat towing available that doesnt involve splicing into the taillights, e.g. with a T-Assembly? it appears the ones recommended all involve splicing.

Hey Brian. Sorry but there are no plug in wiring harnesses for flat towing your 2024 Ford Bronco Outer Banks. You'll need the Roadmaster Smart Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Wiring Kit for Variable Voltage LED Tail Lights item # RM38FR. This wiring kit lets you connect your RV's tail, brake, and turn signal lights to your Bronco's lighting system. The smart diodes make sure that your LED tail lights function correctly while your Bronco's being towed.

Here are some other parts you will need to flat tow your 2024 Ford Bronco Outer Banks:

Tow Bar and Safety Chains - Blue Ox Alpha 2 Non-Binding Tow Bar item # BX7380

Base Plate Kit - Blue Ox Base Plate Kit item # BLU23XR

Charge Line Kit - Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit item # RM-156-25

Supplemental Braking System - SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System item # SM99251 or item # SM99243 if your motorhome has air brakes

High Low Adapter - The tow bar needs to be within 3" of level. If you measure the height of the inside top of the hitch receiver tube on your RV, and the height difference is more than 3 inches above/below the base plate tab height, you'll need a high/low adapter. I have linked a FAQ article that explains all this in more detail along with our selection of adapters.

What kind of motorhome do you have?

Thanks Jerred! I have a Holiday Rambler on the Ford f53 with a Blue Ox BX 7445 tow bar. I previously used an Invisibrake8700 and Blue Ox baseplate on my 2020 jeep wrangler. I think I’m going to take your advice and switch to the Demco stay and play since it seems to be less intrusive to the new bronco then the INVISIBRAKE was. looks like I’ll be going with the DEMCO base plate too due to availability. I didn’t need a high low for my previous set up, and measuring where the tow hooks are on. The bronco seems like it will be the same level, but I will definitely look at the adapters if needed.

@BrianM You're welcome! Yeah the Demco Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System item # SM99251 is definitely the way to go for subtly and convenience. You can't beat it's reliability either. The Demco Tabless Base Plate Kit item # DM76GV is compatible with your Blue Ox Aventa LX Tow bar. Let me know if you have any additional questions.

@JerredH thanks for the help so far. I ended up going with the Demco you mentioned. For the most part install went OK but I am now at an impasse. Any idea how they expect you to get the 3/8 bolts tightened to torque specs? I have tried every all kinds of tools to try to support that bolt from the top to toghten but you literally have barely enough room to put your fingers into the frame. I’m at a loss. I’ve tried angled ratchets, pliers, impact wrenches all kinds of things. Anyone know the trick?!? These are the bolts that you feed down through the frame into the support bracket that attaches to the base plate on each side.

@BrianM You're welcome, happy to help! I do not know another way to hold that bolt so you can get the proper torque on it. Short of gripping down on the threads with a pair of plyers I am not sure how you'd get a better grip on those bolts to tighten the nuts.
