What is Difference Between 45 amp and 60 amp Progressive Dynamics Converter Chargers

Updated 09/16/2025 | Published 06/12/2025

Question:

I have two, 100ah lithium batteries wired in parallel. What difference would I experience between the PD 9300 45amp and 60amp converters at between 14 and 14.4 volts as recommended by the manufacturer?

Hey Jeff, the difference is that the Progressive Dynamics Converter Charter part # PD79RR would charge your lithium batteries at 60 amps compared to 45 amps like the # PD69RR so would charge it quicker.

So if the battery was totally dead it would take a little over two hours to charge the batter with the 45 amp charger and with the 60 amp it would take a little over 1.5 hours. 1.6 hours to be exact.

Hey Jeff, did you decide to go with the 60 amp converter for faster charging, or did you stick with the 45 amp one? I'm curious about your choice because it could help others make a decision on their converter needs.

@JamesonC. I bought the 45 amp version and it is working wonderfully with plenty of power to recharge my two, 100 amp hour lithium batteries. The only challenge on the install was that the wires go in from different directions than on my old Progressive Dynamics converter for lead acid batteries. As with most RV projects, this meant tugging those short wires, with no give, that were put in by the manufacturer to make everything fit. Other than that, the job was easy and the instructions were clear. Thanks for the advice!
