Replacement AC for Dometic 15k on 2017 Grand Design Reflection 27RL

Updated 09/08/2025 | Published 06/10/2025

Question:

Hi Robin, I have the same Dometic 15K B59516.711J0 on a 2017 Grand Design 27RL. It is noisy, started leaking refrigerant in the 3rd year, and sometimes trips the circuit breaker. It uses the Dometic Standard CT Single Zone Thermostat setup to control both heat and AC. The compressor/blower connects to a 63300307 Part 3313191.000 relay box with an AMP/TE mate-n-lok 6 (male house, male contacts). The control box receives that connection through a mate-n-lok-6 (female house, female contacts). The 3 thermostat leads and freeze sensor also connect to this 63300307 relay box. This box is located inside the air plenum. I searched for the "# ACDOM150 (white)" you recommended earlier, but did not find it in your inventory. I assume it is no longer available. I prefer to change manufacturers. Can you recommend a direct replacement for the Dometic 15K? Thanks, Ken

Hey Ken! It definitely sounds like it is time to replace your Dometic AC. The Advent Air you're referencing has been phased out since everything switched to R32 refrigerant this year. On top of that, we no longer recommend simply swapping out the rooftop unit unless it is the same brand and model due to compatibility issues. We really don't want customers installing a new AC only to find out it doesn't work and they still need to order a thermostat and new air distribution box to get it up and running.

One way or another with the switch to R32 a complete replacement is required. The parts aren't backwards compatible and R410A parts have already been discontinued so it is best to move away from those systems. If you want to stick with Advent Air you can use one of the following:

-Advent Air RV Air Conditioner System - Single Zone - 15,000 Btu - White - R32 # ADV92SR

-Advent Air RV Air Conditioner System - Single Zone - 15,000 Btu - Black - R32 # ADV62SR

The Advent Air systems work well and will get the job done. However, if you want my real recommendation it would be to switch to the Furrion Chill Cube. The Chill Cube takes advantage of the R32 and uses a variable speed compressor. This means it is incredibly efficient and unbelievably quiet. On top of that, it has the highest cooling capacity at 18,000 Btus. I'm assuming you have a ducted setup so with a furnace you would need the following:

-Furrion Chill Cube RV AC w/ Air Distribution Box, Thermostat - Ducted - White # FR69TD

-Furrion Chill Cube RV AC w/ Air Distribution Box, Thermostat - Ducted - Black # FR49TD

This version of the Chill Cube comes with a remote which operates the AC. It also comes with a wall thermostat which will be used to control your furnace. There is a bit of a wait on these and the Advent Air right now since we're selling through a lot of AC units as things heat up. If you have a more immediate need let me know and I can make an additional recommendation for an AC that will arrive sooner.

Hey Ken, did you decide to go with the Advent Air or the Furrion Chill Cube for your AC replacement? I'm curious to know how it worked out for you, as it could help others facing similar issues with their setups.
