Recommended Solar Panel for a Redarc In-Vehicle BCDC Trailer Battery Charger

Updated 06/13/2025 | Published 06/10/2025

Question:

I recently bought and installed the redarc Dc to DC charger. Works fine, and Id like to add a solar panel which needs to be uncontrolled, I think. Can you recommend a panel to mate with this product?

Hey Todd, welcome back! Glad you're enjoying the Redarc In-Vehicle BCDC Trailer Battery Charger item # RED36TR. You are correct you do not need a solar controller because the Redarc has a 40 amp one built in.

For a 40 amp solar controller you can use the 200 Watt Solar Panel Go Power Overlander Expansion Kit item # 34282182. To get wired up you can install the 25' Long Go Power Solar Cable Entry Plate with Red and Black MC4 Cables item # 34273843REVA or the 10' Long item # 34273842REVA depending on how far away you're installing your panel. This will give you a nice clean factory look.

What kind of trailer or RV do you have? You can add this information and any other questions you have where it says Reply to Jerred H and I'll be happy to answer them.

Thanks for the helpful info. This is in a horse trailer. We just use the battery to power the lights for now.
