Hello George,

I really wish that the 12027 wasn't discontinued because I do not have any other options available for you. I would see if there is someone out there selling the Curt 12027, or I have great luck finding stuff like that at junk yards. You can also reach out to a local fabricator to see if they can design something for you.

What were you looking to use the hitch for? Just trying to think outside the box to see if we have a different solution for you.

Mainly to haul a kayak on the top of the car, Also, periodically pulling a small trailer short distances. A roof rack may also do the job with the kayak.

@George I can't help with the trailer part, but we do have the Inno Aero Roof Rack for Naked Roofs - Aluminum - Black - Qty 2 # IN77JR. I know it is a little more pricey than a hitch, but if you paired it with the etrailer Kayak Carrier w/ Tie-Downs - J-Style - Folding - Clamp On # e98878 you can at least get your kayak to some water. I know my happiest days are the ones when I am out on the lake, life is too short to not do the things we love!

@KateF Would the CURT Rear Multi Fit Trailer Hitch: 2" Receiver, 5,000 LB Capacity Part # 13900 work? One online auto parts place seemed to say it would, but some drilling would be required. I also understand I may have to do a lift kit to keep it from dragging the ground. thanks, George Miller

@GeorgeM The Curt # C13900 hitch won’t work on your 1999 Chevy Malibu because it’s designed for big trucks and SUVs with heavy-duty frames, while the Malibu is a smaller car with a lighter, unibody design. The hitch simply doesn’t match the shape or structure underneath your car, and even if you tried to make it fit, it would require a lot of custom fabrication that’s just not safe or practical. Plus, your Malibu isn’t rated to handle the kind of weight this hitch is built for. I looked into our other multi fit hitches and they are all designed for trucks and SUV's, we do not have any thing that will work with your Malibu, I am very sorry.
