Best Wheel and Tire for Trailer to Replace 4.80-12

Updated 09/08/2025 | Published 06/08/2025

Question:

I have a pair of AM30670 I got from you 2 years ago this week. Had one of them come apart on me this weekend. Im looking to replace with something more reliable. Thinking AM31202. Will those work as a direct replacement? They look a little wider. Should there be any clearance problems with width or diameter?

Hey Jeff, I would recommend going with the part # AM31202 over what you have now as the tire is a radial construction as opposed to the bias ply that was on old wheel. Radials do much better on the highway than bias ply tires. It would be a direct replacement that wouldn't have any clearance issues.

Hey Jeff, did the Kenda Karrier radial tire work out as a good replacement for you? I'm asking because knowing your experience could help others looking for a reliable tire option.

@JamesonC I reached out to you with questions shortly after receiving these and could not get a response, so no I can't say they worked out that well.

@JeffH I didn't see anything in my inbox from you or any other comments on this page so I wasn't aware you tried to reach out but either way my apologies. What issue did you have?
