Question:
I have a 2022 Toyota Highlander limited that one of your local dealers installed a hitch and wiring on one year ago. It works great including the brakes, but the wiring bracket that holds the round and small 4 pin connectors broke off yesterday when it caught on the ground going through a dip on a woods road. It broke off at the two screws that had been used to attach it to the hitch crossbar under the car. Upon examination, it seemed that more than one bolt had been broken off in the crossbar when the bracket was first installed, and that the small screws used to go into the drilled holes in the crossbar have insufficient strength for this application. I dont want to drill more holes and break more bolts than the dealer already did. I am looking at the Curt mounting adapter C5800 as a solution. But it appears this would eliminate my use of the rattle clamp that is so important to my sanity when hauling a light trailer. Any thoughts? See pic attached of current hitch setup - bracket was to the left, but I have tucked inside the bumper for now to avoid dangling down. seemed not to attache properly Thanks

Hey Richard. I didn't see any pictures but you can send them to the email you receive this response from and I'll be happy to take a look at them.
I can't see your order information either but it sounds like you have something like the item # ETBC7 installed. I wouldn't use the Curt Easy Mount Bracket item # C58000 as a solution to your problem. Instead I would install the No-Drill Mount Bracket item # 18136.
The Mounting Bracket item # 18136 wraps around your hitch receiver with a hose clamp so you don't have to worry about drilling new holes or bolts being ripped off. If your 7-way bracket is destroyed you can use the Mounting Bracket for 7-Way item # HM48625.
