Is There Hitch Adapter that Allows for Better Ground Clearance with Hitch Bike Rack

Updated 06/02/2025 | Published 05/29/2025

Question:

Hello, I have a 2017 Honda CRV that I tow behind my motorhome on a Demco Kar Kaddy, the issue is my Kuat rack is too low to the ground because the front wheels are about six-inches higher then the rear because of the dolly, can I use a hitch riser to get a little more clearance? The Honda has a 2” Curt Class-3 hitch,

Hey Rick, the Roadmaster High Low adapter part # RM-048-8 would work for your application but you should note that it cuts the tongue weight capacity of the hitch it's installed in by 50 percent so you'd need to verify that with the weight of your rack and bikes. I doubt it would be a problem though since Kuat racks are generally lighter weight. Which Kuat rack do you have?

@Rick Ahh gotcha, that's a really nice bike rack! It weighs 82 lbs.
