Whole New Suspension Set-Up for 1985 Holiday Rambler AlumaLite 20 Foot Tandem 3,500 Pound Axles?

Updated 06/04/2025 | Published 05/28/2025

Question:

Hello! I have a 1985 Holiday Rambler AlumaLite 20 foot tandem-axle tow-behind camper. I’m trying to replace the leaf springs but I’m having trouble finding what size I need. I measured the leaf springs on the camper and have the following measurements: Eye to eye: 22 3/4” Three leafs Width: 1 3/4” Axle tubes: 2 3/8” I believe the axles are 3500lbs a piece I’m looking for a complete kit with springs, hardware, equalizers, shackle links, u-bolts, and bushings. The closest thing I found on your site is part number E59SR, but I’m looking for a full kit and am not sure if the measurements are right with that one, but is the closest I could find. Are you able to assist with this? Thank you!

Hello Alexis,

Happy to get you the parts you need for your suspension on your 1985 Holiday Rambler AlumaLite. Thank you for the axle measurement, it is most helpful. It tells me that you have 3,500 pound axles.

Since we do not have leaf springs in the length you need, you will need a whole new suspension, including welding on new hangers. Given the age of the trailer, this is probably a good idea anyway.

This is what you will need:

- Hangers: Tandem-Axle Trailer Hangers for 1-3/4" Wide Double-Eye Springs - 3-1/4" Tall Front # H248

- Leaf Springs: (4) 4-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 3,500-lb Trailer Axles - 25-1/8" Long # e54SR

- Shackle kit: MORryde Suspension Upgrade Kit for Tandem Axle Trailers - 2-1/4" Long Shackle Straps # MR46ZR

- MORryde Rubber Equalizers for Tandem Axle Trailers - 33" Wheelbase - 8K # MR87ZR

- U-bolts: 2 sets of the CE Smith U-Bolt Kit for Mounting 3,500-lb, Round Trailer Axles - 5-1/2" Long U-Bolts - Zinc # CE23002

These parts will not only give you a new suspension, but are going to give you a great ride quality as well.

Did you just get the camper, or just time to replace the suspension? Any big trips in the near future? If so, where are you headed?
