Troubleshooting Red Fault Light on Lippert RV Leveling System

Updated 11/10/2025 | Published 05/01/2025

Question:

After 3 days with power on camper, we are leaving to go home. We run the slides in and close up camper. I press the leveling controller to wake, then press hitch height to raise the back 4 jacks. They may start moving or Ill get a red light fault. Then I auto level again. I press hitch height button and pump starts and the back jacks begin to move. Then they stop and pump makes a clicking noise. Red light again. Auto level and try again to hitch height. Same issue. Open camper and go to LCI screen to manual raise the back legs. What do I need to look for to correct this problem? It doesnt happen every time we camp but at least 1 out of 3 times. Fluid fine, fuse fine. Could it possible be bad battery? We store it so it doesnt stay charged. However, it worked when we first arrived. only problem was when we were leaving. Battery should have been charged from AC power. Thank you

Hey Scotty, thanks for reaching out!

I contact my tech guy at Lippert and this is what he said in regards to your situation:

"There are a few things that will affect the hitch height. The first thing is when unhitching from the tow vehicle before pressing auto level need to make sure that the unit is nose high, then run the auto level. After they get an auto level success, there can not be any movement from the leveling system. So no manual adjustments, or that will erase the hitch height memory. The system is also not set up to go straight from auto level to hitch height. After running an auto level, the system needs to time out before running the hitch height.

The red flashing light on the 5 button touch pad on the exterior means that there was an error of some sort and needs to be checked at the One Control Panel on the inside under the leveling screen."

Try running through things like he mentioned, and if you're still having issues just let me know and I can help you further troubleshoot!

@Kent Here’s how you can check and clear error codes on your Lippert 425306 Replacement Quick Level Touch Panel. The system uses a red and green LED light to let you know what’s going on, and if there’s ever an issue, you’ll also see an error message on the OneControl screen or in the OneControl app. When the light is off, that just means the touch panel is locked. A solid green light means the panel is active and ready to use, and blinking green means the jacks are currently moving. If you see a solid red light, the battery voltage is low and needs to be checked or charged. A blinking red light indicates that there’s an error in the system, you can find out what kind of error it is by checking the message on your OneControl panel or in the app. To clear an error, start by correcting whatever caused it: for example, charging the battery, checking your wiring, or making sure you’re parked on level ground. Once that’s done, press “OK” on your OneControl screen or in the app to clear the message. If the error happened while using the Auto Leveling Touch Pad, you can also press any Auto Leveling Control button after fixing the issue to reset it. If the problem hasn’t been fully resolved, the message will come back, so don’t worry, that’s just the system’s way of reminding you something still needs attention. Here are a few of the most common error messages you might see: - Low Voltage – The system isn’t getting enough power. Charge the battery or check your connections. - Excess Angle – The RV is parked on too steep of a slope. Try moving to a flatter spot before leveling again. - Out of Stroke – One of the jacks has reached its limit. Check for obstructions or uneven ground. - External Sensor Error – The system can’t read a sensor, usually because of a loose or damaged wire. - Jack Time Out – A jack didn’t move as expected. Check power, fluid level, and wiring. - Auto Level Failure – The system couldn’t finish the leveling process, which can happen if the ground is too uneven or voltage is low. If you’ve corrected the issue and the error still won’t clear, try disconnecting power to the leveling system for about 10 to 15 minutes, then reconnect it, that often resets everything and gets you back up and running. You can find this information starting on page 25 in your owners manual for the Lippert Level-Up System.
