Hello David, thanks for reaching out. I can't weld either, at least not well lol. We do have a bolt on hanger kit, the CE Smith Spring Hanger Bracket Kit # CES22QR which works with 1-3/4" wide slipper springs.

Then for a U-Bolt kit you can use part # CE23000 which is for a 1-3/4" round axle.

Please let me know if there is anything else I can do to help.

Hey David, did the bolt-on hanger kit and U-bolt kit work out for mounting your leaf spring to the axle? I'm asking because your experience could help others looking for a similar solution.

Hi Jesse I never ended up using that 1 3/4 axle after all, so I cannot give you any feedback. I was originally going to use that axle on a small trailer that I could tow with my Honda accord. I have since sold the Honda Accord and bought a Subaru Outback and now I can tow my large trailer . I have no need to modify the small trailer now. I'm glad you were there for me though.

@DavidS Gotcha! Just thought I'd check in. Glad to hear you got it sorted out though. How are you liking the Outback? How does it tow? My dad is thinking about getting one, and I have always been a Toyota guy lol

I bought a 2024 outback xt limited. Supposedly the XT versions have a heavier Duty transmission than your regular outback. Towing capacity is listed at 3500# I only know what I have read about these specs. Performance-wise, it does not hesitate to get up and go. I think the vehicle is going to work really well. Tire diameter is critical on these all-wheel drive vehicles, if you allow that to vary you can really hurt the differentials.

Hi again When I stated earlier about tire diameter being critical , I meant that all four tires have to be the same diameter to each other within like less than 1/8. So I guess frequent rotations might be necessary, and I would choose a non-directional tire so you can cross rotate when needed.

@DaveS Oh ok that does make sense. So I guess its critical to keep a full size spare. I guess you would want to make sure and replace all four tires at once when you get new ones. I had mismatched tires on my Corolla for quite some time. But then again, those mid 2000s Corollas are indestructible lol
