Should Loctite Be Used When Installing Mount-n-Lock SafetyStruts?

Updated 09/26/2025 | Published 04/25/2025

Question:

Hi etrailer, Im thinking about using your rv bumper mounts to stabilize my bumper from twisting do to the weight of a generator that Im putting on a cargo rack welded to my bumper. Im curious to what stops the self drilling bolts from vibrating loose out of a tube frame mount. I was thinking about putting some blue loctite on it. I would like to hear your thoughts on the subject. Please get back to me,

Hello Chris, thanks for reaching out. Those self-tapping bolts are generally pretty secure, and if they are good and tight you shouldn't have problems with them backing you. That said, if you want to use loctite for added security you definitely can.

Let me know if there is anything else I can do to help.

Hey Chris, did you decide to use the loctite with the self-tapping bolts for your generator setup? I'm interested to know how it worked out for you, as it could help others looking to stabilize their RV bumpers.

@JesseM I think I used lictite on it but can't remember. It seams to be held tight......
