Can Thermostat of Furrion Chill Cube Control Furnace of 2023 Flagstaff Trailer 26FKBS

Updated 04/25/2025 | Published 04/22/2025

Question:

I have a 2023 Flagstaff trailer 26FKBS with a standard Coleman AC ducted unit that Im thinking about upgrading to a Furion Chill Cube 18,000 BTU unit. The trailer has a furnace and 1 thermostat controls the furnace and AC. Can you give me a feel for what is involved in this upgrade if I opt to use the current thermostat for just the furnace? Would I need to do any rewiring or just disconnect the Coleman thermostat and leave the rest of the control wiring alone and use the Furion wireless thermostat just for the AC? Can you give a wild guess as to cost if I can find someone just to get the units off and on the roof with me doing all the rest of the work? Sorry for all the questions. Many thanks.

Hey Brian, the Furrion Chill Cube part # FR49TD comes with a thermostat that is compatible with furnaces so you would want to run the furnace to it as well and you'd be able to control it all with the same thermostat.

It's pretty hard to say how much someone would charge to just get the old unit off the RV and have the new one moved up there so that's not something we could really help with.

Jameson, can you elaborate on the wiring question, please? While I can see the advantage of having 1 thermostat for both the Furion & my furnace, that means I have to be able to identify the wires in the current wall-mounted thermostat for the furnace instead of just disconnecting the current temperature sensor for the existing Coleman AC & using the existing thermostat for the furnace only & the Furion thermostat for the new AC. Does the remote Furion thermostat control both the AC & furnace or is that a new wall-mounted Furion thermostat? Thanks.

@BrianS Furnace controls on a thermostat is just two wires but if you wanted to run two thermostats you certainly could. The remote does have ability to switch between furnace and AC though. With the mentioned unit though it would require installing the wall mounted thermostat as well.
