Hi David,

If you mean will it bolt into the holes already in the # CES45FR extra long tongue, the answer will have to be a no, unfortunately. I have some measurements below showing the reasoning behind that statement.

However, all you would need to do is drill one new hole (well, technically a hole going through the tongue would be two holes, but you know what I mean), and you would be good to go. From what I could find, CE Smith only offers a 2" coupler for these so the only option to go with a 1-7/8" coupler (like the # E112000340 you were looking at) will be to drill a new hole.

Can I ask why you are wanting to switch to the smaller 1-7/8" ball?

Thanks for the great reply. I have a 1 1/4" receiver mounted on my Honda accord, It tows a very small utility trailer. A extented tongue allows me to haul longer lengths of construction lumber(within weight constraints), or 2 kayaks. Another option is to buy a 4x8 trailer. Thanks for being there for us! Dave

@DaveS That definitely make sense. I'm not sure what ball mount you have, but you could swap the ball to a 2" option like # 19258 so you can use the couple that comes on the CE Smith trailers. It has the 3/4" shank found on the 1-1/4" ball mounts so will fit without issues. Or if you pull multiple things, the Convert-A-Ball Interchangeable Ball Set # 800B has a unique design that lets you switch from a 1-7/8" ball to a 2" ball without having to mess with taking the ball off in the conventional sense. It also has the needed 3/4" shank for 1-1/4" ball mounts. Either way, if you need anything else or have any other questions, just let me know : )
