Troubleshooting A Furrion Vision S Camera System that Does Not Come On When Connected to Trailer

Updated 04/16/2025 | Published 04/13/2025

Question:

When I hook the camera directly to the power cord to the monitor in the truck it works. But when I hook it up on my fifth wheel it has no signal. The blue power light is on so it has power to it.

Hey Sean, there are a number of reasons why your Furrion Vision S Wireless RV Backup Camera System w/ Night Vision # FOS43TASF works when powered directly but not when plugged into your trailer.

The first thing that comes to mind is that there is no power flowing to your "shark fin" pre-wired bracket. You'll want to take a multimeter # PT29ZR and check to see if there is 12v power going there. A lot of manufacturers tie in the camera circuit to the running lights circuit, so you'll also want to make sure the running lights are on when you check.

The next thing I'd check is the physical wiring behind the shark fin mount. It's not totally uncommon, or out of the realm of possibilities for the wiring to be damaged, crimped, or even disconnected altogether.

The last thing I can think of is the ground connection being bad. I'd also recommend checking that, and making sure it's connected securely and the wire itself is not damaged as well.

If you're still having issues, please feel free to drop a comment and let me know!
