Upgraded Equalizers for 2014 Palomino Puma 5th Wheel

Updated 10/22/2025 | Published 04/11/2025

Question:

I need to upgrade the equalizers on my 2014 Palamino Puma 5th wheel. I was looking at the Road Armor vs the Morryde Alltrek 4000. I was also curious about the Equa-Flex Cushioned Equalizers. 1. What would provide the most comfortable ride? 2. Do any of these have a lifting effect on the height of the camper? And if so, how much? Thanks in advance!

Hello again David; the best option for an upgraded equalizer is the one that matches your current equalizer measurements. Keeping the same or similar measurements keeps your suspension geometry the same. Realistically, you aren't going to notice a real difference between the Road Armor or Equa-Flex or whatever else you might add. Also, they are not designed to lift the trailer.

It looks like Lippert decided to discontinue the Road Armor at the end of last month and it is already out of our inventory. The Equa-Flex Cushioned Equalizers # LC145546 measure 7-1/2" between the left and right bolt holes on center. If that matches your current equalizer this will work well for you.

One of the most common measurements is 5-3/4" which aligns with the Dexter E-Z Flex # K71-652-00. I have these on my trailer and they work really well. It is also a full kit so it comes with bronze bushings, wet bolts, and heavy-duty 2-1/4" shackle straps for a complete upgrade.

If you have different measurements you can reply to me below and I'll see what is the best fit your your trailer.

Hey David, how did things turn out with the equalizer upgrade on your Puma 5th wheel? Did the Dexter E-Z Flex or the Equa-Flex end up matching your current setup? Your update could make it easier for others choosing between these options.
