Hello Kevin, thanks for reaching out. Since your axle is 2,000 lb rated, you will want to go with a leaf spring for a 2,000 lb axle. The length of the spring is not as important since you would be adding your own hangers. Something like the etrailer Rust-Resistant 3-Leaf Double Eye Spring for 2K Trailer Axles # e53SR would be a great option. It is 20-3/8" long eye to eye. Then you could use a hanger kit like part # APS4. You would want your hanger spacing to be around 21".

I hope this helps. Feel free to reach out with any other questions or comments and I am happy to get back to you.

Hey Kevin, how did the 3-leaf springs and hanger kit work out for your trailer rebuild? I'm curious if the spacing and fit lined up well with your 2,000 lb axle. Your update could make it easier for others working on similar kayak trailers.
