Upgraded Leaf Spring Replacement for 2020 5th Wheel with 6k Rated Axles

Updated 10/22/2025 | Published 04/06/2025

Question:

Hello, I have a 2020 5th wheel with 6000lb axles. The leaf springs are all flat almost inverted. I have scaled the trailer many times and there is never more than 10,500lbs on the two axles so well under the rating. The existing leaf springs are 5 leaf and appear to be 25 1/4 unloaded eye to eye…my question is I see they make a 6 leaf set that is also rated for 6000 lbs but is 26 inches eye to eye, can I use the 3/4 inch longer spring? I assume the 6 leaf pack would hold up a little better than the 5 leaf. Its to the point that the trailer rides very nose high due to the springs sagging.

Hey Joseph, it sounds like your leaf springs have worn out and would need to be replaced...but since you are wanting a spring that's a bit more heavy duty I would recommend going with the part # TRU52FR as this is rated for 7k axles and is the 25-1/4 inch length you are needing as well.

Going with a longer spring won't help at all and would basically just make the suspension bind up.

Hey Joseph, how did things turn out after switching to the 7k-rated leaf springs? Your results could really help others dealing with sagging suspension on similar 5th wheels.
