Question:
I will use the Reed Sway-Control bracket for 2inch Ball Mount. Are the standard length shanks long enough to include the 3/8inch thickness off this additional plate or do I need a special longer shank. Minimum shank length required ?

Expert Reply:
The Reese Sway-Control Bracket # RP26003 is 1/2 an inch thick, so you will need to order a ball with a longer shank more than likely. A lot of our customers order balls with longer shanks along with this bracket. Since ball mount platforms can vary in thickness it really just depends on what ball mount you plan on using.
This bracket is designed to work on ball mounts with a 1 inch diameter hole, so for a longer 2 inch ball with a 1 inch shank you would want the Curt Hitch Ball part # C40020. This ball has a 3 inch long shank.
