Will Dometic Wall Switch Work With MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vent

Updated 10/28/2025 | Published 03/01/2025

Question:

I am installing a MaxxFan Deluxe in a 2016 Newmar Dutch Star. There are four wires going to the old dometic fan. Two of them go to the wall switch and the other two are the power and ground. What do I do with the two wires coming from the wall switch? Can I still use them with the MaxxFan? Thank you, Tim

Hey Tim! The MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vent # MA00-07500K is not compatible with that wall switch. I would cap off those extra wires and leave them just in case you need them sometime later on. The MaxxFan has a 2-wire design so there wouldn't be a way to connect it to that switch. Even if you could, it is designed to operate with the buttons on the vent or with the included remote. Hey Tim, how did things go with wiring the MaxxFan Deluxe in your Dutch Star after capping off those switch wires? Your update could make it easier for the next person replacing a Dometic fan in a similar setup.

@RobinH All is great. I installed another one in the front bathroom, too. All you need is the power and the ground wires connected and the other two covered up. Works like a charm. Just know that it will only work from the remote, which is not a problem with the remote mounted to the wall.
