Hi Barbara! For your 1982 camper trailer I recommend the new Furrion Chill Cube AC. This unit has an incredibly low power draw, 18k Btu capacity, variable speed compressor, and is unbelievably quiet. The correct replacement will depend on your current setup. You can choose from the following based on ducted/ductless and color:

-Furrion Chill Cube RV Air Conditioner w Air Distribution Box - Ductless - 18,000 Btu - White # FR59TD

-Furrion Chill Cube RV Air Conditioner w Air Distribution Box - Ducted - 18,000 Btu - Black # FR39TD

-Furrion Chill Cube RV Air Conditioner w Air Distribution Box - Ducted - 18,000 Btu - White # FR99TD

-Furrion Chill Cube RV AC w/ ADB, Thermostat - Ducted - White # FR69TD (if you have a furnace)

-Furrion Chill Cube RV AC w/ ADB, Thermostat - Ducted - Black # FR49TD (if you have a furnace)

The models with a wall thermostat are designed so you can run your furnace as well. You can also run the furnace off of the existing thermostat and run the chill cube off of the remote and ADB controls. All of the systems come with a remote that also acts as the thermostat. I was wondering what the minimum wall thickness can be? I have an Airstream and roof thickness is about 2 inches. Would this unit work?

@Kyle the roof thickness needs to be 3.5” (90mm) to 6” (152mm). All you need to do is add in some wood or other material to get that extra 1.5" around the opening. This is a common practice, especially when adding an AC to an Airstream or older trailers where the roof isn't as thick. It is definitely worth the extra work to install the Chill Cube.
