Do I Need the Air Distribution Box with the Furrion Chill Cube

Updated 03/11/2025 | Published 11/09/2024

Question:

Hello, We have a 2021 lance 2185 and want to replace our ac with a furrion chill cube and preorder it. It’s ductless but not sure if we need the model with an air distribution box or without. Thanks! David

Hello David.

You will definitely want to go with the Furrion Chill Cube RV Air Conditioner w Air Distribution Box - Ductless - 18,000 Btu - White # FR59TD. My favorite feature about the new Furrion Chill Cube is the remote that comes with the air distribution box. Not only is it a remote but it also works as the thermastat. It has this really neat follow me feature. With this feature you can put the remote anywhere in your camper and it will make sure that spot is at your desired temperature.

With that being said, if you can get me the information on your current AC set up, I am happy to see if there is a conversion kit if you would like to use your current air distribution box.

Hi Kate, We sold the trailer and purchased an alliance 69bh with a ducted Coleman Mach 13k. Can I purchase just the ducted adapter for the fr59td we purchased previously? Thanks!

@David Hello David, I really wish there was just an adapter for this, but the new Furrion Chill Cube 18K actually has a different fan for the ducted system compared to the non-ducted version. The air intake is also designed differently, meaning you wouldn’t be able to use the # FR59TD ductless unit in a ducted setup. On top of that, the air distribution boxes for ducted and ductless models are not interchangeable. This might be the one thing I don’t love about the new units.
