What Dual Receive do I Need for Flat Towing My Jeep and a Bike Rack with 2 e-bikes?

Question:

Hello eTrailer— I’ve got a multi part see * ‘s below question. Hopefully you can offer some insight / suggestions: I’m interested in finding a * ‘high / low’, 2” hitch double 2” female receivers with sufficient weight ratings for setup described below and * locking, anti rattle pin for securing it to the tow vehicle — My Tow vehicle is a Jayco class c motor home with a factory mounted 2” receiver rated for 7,500 pounds towing and 750 pound tongue weight. The top receiver of needed high / low double receiver will be used for a bike rack bike rack and two e-bikes plus security cable and lock total approximately 210 pounds. *Needed for this top receiver is an anti rattle, locking style pin. The bottom receiver opening of the high / low will be used for mounting tow bar to tow an approx 4,400 lb jeep wrangler utilizing NSA Ready Brute tow bar / Blue Ox base plate. Center of Rv receiver pin and center of tow bar base plate pins differ in height from floor by approximately 2”. * Needed for this bottom receiver is an anti rattle, locking style pin. I’ve previously used have on hand a Lets Go Aero locking pin for hollow tube hitches, and it has performed well. Would additional similar units be satisfactory for the locations / weights described above? If so, is it possible to obtain additional Lets Go Aero pins that might be keyed alike like the one zzz currently have — if there’s an identifying number on the pin or key?. Thanks for your help

Hello Gary,

Great question! For your Jayco Class C, the best dual 2” high-low hitch adapter for your setup is the Roadmaster # RM-077-2. It’s rated for 10,000 lbs towing and 400 lbs tongue weight, which will work well for both your NSA Ready Brute tow bar and your bike rack with two e-bikes (260 lbs total). It also provides the 2” height adjustment needed between your motorhome’s hitch and the Jeep’s base plate.

The Let's Go Aero is actually my go to for locking hitch pins, so I would stick with the # 63232, I really wish that we had the keyed alike option for them. In order to get them keyed alike you would need to reach out to Let's Go Aero directly. I will send you a separate email with their information.

If you don't mind I would like to ask you about your NSA Ready Brute tow bars as we do not carry them, but I do get questions about them. Did you have to get special adapters to hook it up to the Blue Ox baseplate, or did it hook right up? I appreciate your time =)

Kate Thanks for your reply. My experience with the aero locking pin has been limited, but good —for also accomplishing the removal of trailer slop — but I haven’t seen information on it (or other pins, that I recall) regarding how they might be rated for towing any significant weight. Not that my Jeep is a heavy weight in my opinion. The NSA Ready Brute came with the Blue Ox yokes to match up to the Blue Ox base plate. It’s my understanding that they have optional yokes to mate with other manufacturers base plates. Thanks Gary

@GaryW Gary, Thanks for the information about the NSA Ready Brute. I really like how the braking system is built in, I am in high hopes that maybe one day we will be able to have them on our site. The Let's Go Aero # 63232 doesn't has a weight rating of 12k. I have had a lot of people buy them for ball mounts to haul heavy tailers and have only heard great things about it, so you will have the same results with your Jeep. I just sent you over their number so you can contact them. Let me know if you run into any issues. Thanks again for the info! Safe travels =)
