Question:
My trailer manual calls for National Seal #472193. Is the RG06-050 a direct replacement for this? My bearing numbers for the seals are L44649 and L68149.

Expert Reply:
The Tru-Ryde Grease Seal # RG06-050 that you referenced is a direct replacement for National Seal part 473336. This is a grease seal. The original part number you provided, 472193, is an oil seal, according to my research. It is specified to have an outer diameter of 2.561-inches and an inner diameter of 1.750-inches.
The link provided will show you all oil seals we offer; none matches these specs exactly.
Among our available grease seals we do have one with the same 2.561-inch outer diameter, but its inner diameter does not match the 1.750-inch inner diameter; part # 168255TB has an inner diameter of 1.687-inches. This is a double-lip seal intended for marine applications on 3500-lb axles.
The photo provided will show you where on your spindle to measure (using a precision digital caliper) to confirm the required seal inner diameter; you can measure the hub's bore to find the outer diameter you need. You can then use these dimensions to search the second linked page for a seal that matches; filters in the left-hand margin will let you narrow the results to match your requirements.
