Can Draw Tite Hitch for 2022 Lexus RX350 Install without Cutting Bumper

Updated 11/03/2025 | Published 01/22/2025

Question:

2022 RX350 premium 4x2 Regarding Draw-Tite 75540 hitch I have read that some customers with my same year/model have used spacers instead of cutting the bumper. Is this an acceptable install method and if yes, do you sell the spacers? Thank you

Hey Ernie, so I would have to recommend you stick with the install instructions if you can when you install the # 75540 since that is how the hitch was tested and designed for. Now with that said if it was me and I found a way to use spacers to not have to cut the bumper I probably would as well but that's something you'd have to use your best judgment on and we don't have any spacer or instructions to go along with that. Let me know which way you decide to go with it though.

Hey Ernie, what did you end up doing with the Draw-Tite hitch on your RX350—did you go with spacers or follow the standard install instructions? Your update could make it easier for others trying to avoid trimming their bumper.

@JamesonC - I installed the hitch without the spacers first to see how much the plastic bumper would bend. The bend seemed very slight, so I decided to leave it that way. It does press against the plastic bumper a little bit, but not enough IMO to make it worth adding spacers. I also thought about cutting away the part of the bumper where the receiver presses against the bumper but decided not to because this way I could remove the hitch and the bumper would be normal, no cuts. Thanks for the help. Ernie
