Best Suspension Upgrade For 2015 Keystone Passport UltraLite 238ML

Updated 01/27/2025 | Published 01/22/2025

Question:

I have a 2015 Keystone Passport Ultra Light travel trailer 238ML. It has 2 axles. Dry weight is just under 4000 lbs. I want to upgrade the suspension. What products will work on my rv? Thanks

Hey Charles, I can certainly point you in the right direction. The best way to upgrade your suspension is with an upgraded equalizer and wet bolt/HD shackle kit. I really like the kits from MORryde since their cushioned equalizers and bolt kits tend to make a huge difference in ride quality, and they last a really long time.

That said, I do not have a way to look up your travel trailer to know exactly which suspension components will fit, but we can still get you well on your way. The first thing to do will be to measure your current equalizer. Specifically, we are looking for the distance on center between the bolt holes, as well as the height of the equalizer.

For example, the MORryde CRE3000 Rubber Equalizers # MR87ZR measure 6-1/2" long and 3-1/4" tall as you can see in the diagram below. We will want to make sure these dimensions match the correct equalizer. The trailer suspension is built around the equalizer size so there is very little tolerance.

The same goes for the wet bolt/shackle kit. Example the MORryde Suspension Upgrade Kit # MR46ZR comes with 2-1/4" long shackles. Please measure your current shackle links from center hole to center hole and make sure they are also the 2-1/4" long. This is a fairly common size but please verify.

From here, if you can let me know your equalizer dimensions, and shackle length I can get back to you and confirm exactly what part numbers you will need. Just reply in the comment section below and we can take it from there.

Thanks Jesse, for the equalizer my wheelbase is 42", and my stock equalizer is about 14 3/4" from eye bolt to eye bolt and about 2" high from eye bolt to center eye bolt. My stock bolt shackles are 2 1/4" bolt to bolt and the bolts are 3 1/2" long. I would also like to replace the springs. My stock springs are 26" bolt to bolt and are 1 3/4" wide with both axle capacities at 3000 lbs each. Spring u bolts are 3" wide and 5 1/2 " long. Thanks

@CharlesO Gotcha. Does your equalizer look like part # K13-142-02? A bit of an oddball size but if so, the MORryde # MR34AR will be the best upgraded equalizer for replacing that. It is also 14-3/4" long. Then the # MR46ZR shackle kit will be correct for you. For new springs, I recommend the 6-Leaf Double-Eye Spring # e94SR as they match your specs exactly. For new U-bolts, use part # CE23003. I hope this helps and just let me know if you need anything else.

My current springs are 4 leaf, will 6 leaf be ok or should I use 4 leaf?

@Charles Yes that will be completely fine. The leaves are only 3/8" thick so that is not enough of a difference to mess with anything.
