Question:
I have a Chevy Aveo 2007 hatchback. I did the walk through on your site to determine size, but not sure how to measure my roof - it curves down to the door - if i measure from top of door to top of door, its coming to about 45-48. If I measure edge of roof only, it is only about 35. Am I doing this right? I need to get someone to help me so it is more accurate! Also - am I seeing that a smaller roof means way more expensive choices in basic rack kit? One more - will a J type kayak holder work on this? This is my whole reason for looking into the rack. Thanks in advance!

The SportRack Roof Rack for Naked Roofs part # SR1002, which you reference, is a confirmed fit for your 2007 Chevy Aveo5. This semi-custom fit is adjustable with crossbars that are 50" long. As long as your naked roof measures 50" or less side to side this rack will work for you. You will want to measure from the door jamb to door jamb. I have attached a link to the installation details for you to check out.
A smaller roof may mean a more expensive basic roof rack kit because smaller roofs have shorter spans and less weight capacities and require extra supports or adapters. Another factor in price may be whether you go with a semi-custom rack versus custom-fit rack.
For your kayak, you can use a J-style carrier like the SportRack J Stacker # SR5511. This carrier will come with all necessary installation hardware and tie down straps. For added security you could also use the Hood Loops # TH529, which will provide a better attachment point for your bow and stern tie-downs.
Your crossbars have a 130 lbs weight capacity, but you will need to make sure the weight of the kayaks and the carriers does not exceed the capacity of the rack or the vehicle roof. You should be able to locate the weight capacity in the owner's manual or by contacting your Chevy dealer.
I have attached a help article on roof mounted watersport carriers for you to check out.
