Hi Aidan,

The Derale Atomic-Cool Remote Transmission Cooler Kit w/ Fan # D13950 would need to be wired to a fuse tied to the ignition so that it can only pull power while the vehicle is running. With the vehicle running the fan will kick on any time the temperature is above 180 degrees. If it falls back below 180 degrees the fan will kick back off.

The cooler core will still work even without the fan running since it's allowing the fluid to cool as it runs through it. The tubing for the core thins down the fluid so the air passing through the fins and over the tubing can more quickly cool the fluid down. The standard temperature range for your Liberty's coolant is from 200 to 225 degrees Fahrenheit so the fan should kick on after the engine warms up.

Hey Aidan, how did things go with the Derale Atomic-Cool cooler once you wired it to the ignition? Did the fan start cycling on and off around 180 degrees as expected? Your update could make it easier for others setting up the same kit.
