RV Replacement Fridge Recommendation for Dometic RM2451

Question:

What would you recommend to replace my failed Dometic RM 2451, 4 cubic/ ft Absorption fridge. It runs propane and 120VAC. My existing enclosure is approximately 24?inch Deep x 38¾inch high x 24 ¾inch wide. Im looking to run 12 volt off my PV system which is rated for 160 watts x 2 panels. Much appreciated, G

Hey George, the Vitrifrigo part # VT54FR that you referenced would be an excellent option to replace what you have as it's a similar size as well as uses 12 volt power instead of 120 volt and propane like you are wanting. It's a little smaller but would that be a problem? It measures 21-3/8" wide x 30-3/16" tall x 21-3/4" deep.

Appreciate your reply. This is a unit I had in mind. However I'm concerned that its still using the refrigerant R134A which is being phased out. Any ideas of options with current refrigerants?

@GeorgeH Anything sold after January 2025 has to be the current refrigerant and not the older stuff so you wouldn't have to worry about that with this fridge.
