Solution for Needing A Little More Clearance to Allow Tailate to Fold Down and Not Hit Jack

Question:
Because of the location of where we added a powered jack onto our trailer, we cant open our pickup tailgate when the trailer is attached. While we might be able to move the location of the jack, one solution also would be to extend the current ball another inch or two from the current location, but I cant seem to find any class V hitch extenders that are only 2 to 6 inches out. Do they exist? TIA. Carl

Hey Carl, I think I have a better solution but I would need more info from you to give you the exact part number you need. So your best solution will be a ball mount that has a longer distance between the hitch ball hole and the hitch pin hole.
So to get you what you'd need I would need to know the current distance of that on your ball mount, the size hitch your ball mount is for, and the amount of rise/drop your current ball mount has.
Hitch extension add a bit of movement so they aren't ideal. They also cut the capacity of the hitch by 50 percent as well.
It's probably way overkill for as example check out the super long # 80232.

the current distance between the center of the ball and the hitch pin hole is around 10.5-11 inches. it's hard to measure exactly.
