Can The TorkLift Cannon Hitch Extension Be Used To Flat Tow With A Truck Bed Camper

Updated 12/26/2024 | Published 12/24/2024

Question:

I have a 2020 F350, dually truck. I also have a Mammoth 11.6 truck camper. I would like to four down tow my Jeep Wrangler that weighs 4600 pounds behind my truck camper combo. Is this the correct extender to do that with and if not what do you recommend? Thanks, Bob

Hey Bob,

The TorkLift Cannon Hitch Extension # TLE1648 would be a good option if your F-350 has the factory 3" Ford receiver hitch and you're needing 48" of extension. You can measure to figure out the correct length needed, with or without the camper in the bed.

If the camper is mounted on the truck:
Measure from the face of the truck's rear bumper to the outside edge of the camper's bumper. This is the length of the extension that you need.

If the camper is not mounted on the truck:
1. Measure from the inside of the front of your truck bed to the outside face of the truck's rear bumper.
2. Measure the camper's overall floor length from the rubber bumpers at the front to the outside edge of the rear bumper.
3. Find the difference between these 2 figures by subtracting. The difference is the length of the extension that you need.

We offer the following extension lengths:
21" Long # TL46CR (5.5k capacity)
24" Long # TL66CR (5k capacity)
36" Long # TLE1636 (3.6k capacity) - would be overloaded
42" Long # TLE1642 (3.3k capacity) - would be overloaded
48" Long # TLE1648 (6k capacity)

Let me know what length you need and I can see if there's any other options that can qualify. If you need help picking out your flat towing components for the Wrangler just let me know what year it is and if you have a factory bumper.
