Can 4-Flat Plug At Trailer Hitch Be Used For Flat Tow Lighting

Question:

2017 Jeep wrangler. I have a 4 flat connection ran to my trailer hitch to hook to a trailer I tow. I just watched your video on running wire from back of Rv to front of Jeep to rear of Jeep and plugging into a curt kit that is attached to brake/signal lights to activate brake/signal lights . Could I not just plug the wire from Rv to Jeep into the connection I all ready have installed at trailer hitch to activate the brake/signal lights ? Thank you

Hello Billy, thanks for reaching out. It sounds like you are wanting to set your Wrangler up to flat tow. If so, you cannot use the 4-flat connection on the back of your jeep for this. The 4-flat at your trailer hitch is meant for sending a signal to trailer lights, not for receiving a signal. We get this question fairly often, and I can assure you that a trailer wiring harness cannot be used for flat tow lighting. For that, I recommend using the Roadmaster Diode Kit # RM-15267 which will take signal from your RV and transfer it to the vehicle lights.
