What Hose Can be Used to Drain Gray Water RV Tank

Updated 12/17/2025 | Published 11/19/2024

Question:

Does anyone make a 1-1/2 ID slinky style hose for draining gray tank? Thank you

Hey Dan,

The vast majority of the time the gray tank empties into the 3" black water sewage so nobody has a slinky-style 1-1/2" diameter sewage hose.

For your setup you can use either the threaded Valterra # T01-0094VP or the bayonet-style Camco # CAM39463, which reduces the 1-1/2" opening to the size of a garden hose (like the Dometic # W01-4180) and has a threaded connection for that as well. Since the gray water tank only holds used water and doesn't include waste, you can have this much smaller diameter hose to empty just that tank.

Hey Dan, did the Valterra or Camco connector end up working for your gray tank drain? Knowing what setup you went with could help others trying to downsize from a 1-1/2 inch hose. Your update could make it easier for the next person with the same issue.

@LazerS I was never able to source a 1-1/2" diameter "slinky" style hose. Very strange, given how one can find sources for just about anything these days!

@DanS Yeah that is kind of odd. Maybe check with a boat/marine place. I grew up around boats and yachts (my pops was a carpenter) and this size was used fairly often. Not saying they will have exactly what you are looking for, but they might.
