Can The Brophy Camper Cable Jacks # CJ31 Be Used For Lifting A Camper Shell?

Question:
re: borphy cj31 camper jacks. One place you say it can be used for a standard fiberglass cap not slide-in but in another place you say they wont work unless there is an overhang....I assume sticking out to either side of the truck. I have a cap Id like to remove but the bottom edge is flush with the side of my truck. Will I be able to pull my truck out once cap is lifted? Or will the verticals be too close.

Hello Michael, thanks for reaching out. The Brophy Camper Cable Jacks # CJ31 are better suited a truck bed camper that extends out past the bed rails on each side. They can potentially be used for a camper shell that is flush with the side of the truck, but it really depends on the shape of the side of your truck.
On the camper jacks, you have about 3" from the upright post to the back side of the bracket the camper shell sits on. I suggest you measure the side of your truck to see if the bracket could be positioned under the shell without the upright mast hitting the side of your truck. As long as the body of the truck does not stick out more than 3" it will not obstruct the upright portion of the jack, and you will be good to use them.

Hey Michael, did you get a chance to measure the side of your truck to see if the Brophy camper jacks would clear it? Once you tried it out, did the spacing work for lifting your cap? Your results could help others with a similar flush-fit setup.
