Will Furrion 7-Way Vehicle Power Adapter Help With Camera Not Working

Published 10/11/2024

Question:

Regarding this product FR87PR My backup camera was working in the spring but now it is not. I thought the camera was broken but when I plug it into the cig lighter in vehicle it works fine. I tried a new camera on the trailer and it didnt work. I checked the voltage coming out of the running lights where the camera plugs in and it is 11.4 volts. I see where newer vehicles do not produce enough voltage on the led lights to get the camera to work. Will this help with my problem? I have a 2017 Dodge Durango RT. I just wondered why the camera all of a sudden will not work. Thanks

Hi Keith,

While I don't know for sure if the 7-Way Vehicle Power Adapter for Furrion RV Observation Camera # FR87PR will help, my inclination is no. What this does is regulate the 12 volt power from your 7-way, which based on what you said, doesn't sound like the issue. If your camera(s) just stopped working, the common denominator is the trailer. My guess is the trailer wiring/lights are damaged or frayed there is some other issue (possibly with the trailer-side connector) that is hampering the camera. I would definitely check that first.
