Recommended Weight Distribution System for a 2021 Forest River R-Pod 193

Updated 01/05/2026 | Published 09/18/2024

Question:

My sister recently purchased a 2021 Forest River R-Pod 193 with a hitch weight of 435 and dry weight of 3,700. She will be towing it with a 2021 Chevrolet Colorado 3.6L V6 with the towing package, she will not be using a bumper mounted hitch. What is the best anti-sway bar for this set-up? Ive emailed Forest River several times, but have not heard back from them.

Hi Cyndee, regarding your sister's 2021 Forest River R-Pod 193, a hitch is absolutely needed to tow with a weight distribution system - you cannot just mount a ball on the bumper and use any kind of sway control other than an electric style option.

With that being said, I recommend going with the Curt TruTrack Weight Distribution System w/ Sway Control # C17499.

This hitch has a tongue weight range of 500 to 800 lbs, a max weight capacity of 8,000 lbs, and has Integrated active sway control that limits side-to-side movement of trailer.

Hey Cyndee, how did the Curt TruTrack weight distribution system work out for your sister’s R-Pod and Colorado setup? Knowing how it handled sway on the road could really help others towing similar trailers.
