Question:
Hi I am trying to update a trailer axle. The trailer is an M116a3. I know some of the part numbers that will fit the axle but my end goal is to change this axle to use electric brakes and have hubs 6x5.5 that hopefully have a grease cap that is under 110mm to fit correctly with the new wheels. Can you help me find it based on these numbers. RH complete brake assembly without parking brake: 23510 LH complete brake assembly without parking brake: 23511 Timken part numbers for bearings: Inner Bearing 25580 Inner Race 25520 Outer Bearing 2585 Outer Race 2520 Grease seal 10-36 double Lip

Hello Johnathan; I'm sorry to say that bearing combination is obsolete so we do not have a hub and drum assembly that will fit. The 25580 inner and 2585 outer bearing correspond with the old 8-232-5 hub but even if you can find one it won't have the 6 on 5-1/2 bolt pattern. This really only leaves you with replacing the axle.
The best option for swapping out the axle on an M116A3 is the Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension # TASR7KS01. These have the suspension built-in, fit any frame width, and have a 7,000 lb capacity. For a hub you can use the # AKHD-655-6-EZ-K which has a 6 on 5-1/2 bolt pattern. The capacity on these hubs is limited to 6,000 lbs so that will be your limit for the trailer. Any higher and 8 on 6-1/2 becomes the standard. The grease cap flange diameter is 2.45" so that is also inline with your requirements.
For brakes you can use the etrailer Electric Trailer Brakes # AKEBRK-7-SA. You will also need to add a 7-way for the brakes which can be done with the # H20046. A breakaway kit like the Hopkins Engager Trailer Breakaway Kit # 20400 will also be required.
