Will The Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Brake Controller Work On A 2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer Series II Obsidian?

Updated 09/16/2025 | Published 07/21/2025

Question:

I have a 2023 Grand Wagoneer Series II Obsidian with the L6 engine. I need to install a brake controller. I watched a video of a tech installing the Prodigy 3 controller, but when I came to your website, it does not give that controller as an option. Is this correct?

Hi Becky!

Not sure why it isn't showing the P3, but the # TK28ER will fit your 2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer Series II Obsidian. It also include the pigtail wiring harness that plugs right in. This plug is located under the dash to the left of the steering column near the e-brake pedal. I included an install we did on a '22 Jeep Wagoneer for you to check out as well.

Good choice with the Prodigy P3 as well! It's the best one on the market and one of my go-to brake controllers.

What will you be towing with your Wagoneer? Big trip planned?

Hey Becky, Did you get a chance to install the Prodigy P3 brake controller on your Grand Wagoneer? I'm curious to know how it went because it could help others with a similar setup!

@LazerS We haven't decided whether to go with the Prodigy or with the Mopar. The Prodigy is cheaper and easier. Mopar offers a dash replacement that integrates the brake controller into the existing electronics. Any thoughts?

@BeckyK I definitely get that. The P3 may be the best one on the market, but I don't think anyone would call it pretty or anything like that. Now I don't mean to confuse you or anything, but the P3 isn't actually my favorite controller (it's my second favorite). I'm 6'5" and this style of controller and my knees don't typically agree with each other. My favorite is the Redarc line of controllers. These will require you to drill a small mote to mount the control knob, but that will be the only visible part once the install is complete. You likely have a blank port somewhere on your dash to do this, but it can literally be mounted wherever the easiest/best place is for you. The one I have linked below can handle up to two axles and I also have the custom fit pigtail to make the install nice and easy. Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller - Dash Knob - Up to 2 Axles - Proportional # RED24FR Plug-and-Play Wiring Harness for Redarc Tow-Pro Brake Controllers # RED77FR It looked like this would still save you some money too! Those Mopar ones are on the pricey side. They do look very OEM though, since you know, they are. : P
