Troubleshooting Integrated Brake Controller of 2024 Chevy Silverado 3500 not Working with EOH Brakes

Updated 01/05/2026 | Published 09/12/2024

Question:

I have a 2024 Chevrolet 3500 Dually and when I hook my big boat up behind it I drive for a ways and I get Trailer brakes disconnected on my dash. I have electro/hydraulic brakes on the trailer. I drive a ways further and it works again. I have cleaned all the connections and tried another older truck and brakes always work good. I have narrowed it down to something with the new truck. Do you think the Furion 7 way adapter might work to resolve this problem too? Thanks, Dennis

Hey Dennis, the integrated brake controller of your 2024 Chevy Silverado 3500 probably needs to be put in hydraulic mode to work with your trailer brakes if it's not already. If that is not the case let me know what brand of actuator you have and I'll see if we have an adapter for it that allows it to be used with EOH brakes like you have. The Furrion adapter would not work though.

Hey Dennis, did switching your truck’s brake controller to hydraulic mode fix the issue with your trailer brakes cutting out? Your update could make it easier for others troubleshooting the same problem with newer trucks.

@JamesonC No it did not fix the problem but I did repair it so it works properly. You have to order an inline diode from the electro hydraulic brake control manufacturer and install it on your unit. I can look back to find part number and cost and provide it if it would be helpful. Thanks Dennis
