Question:
Hi I have a Yakima bike rack for a 2inch receiver and the setup works fine on the receiver on my Subaru Outback. I just got a 2024 Tacoma with a 2inch receiver and I have two problems with the installing the rack. 1. The stock bolt that came with the rack is not long enough to protrude through the double wall structure of the receiver on the truck. 2. The threads on the stock bolt are not long enough to engage the locking threads on the rack, again due to the double wall structure of the receiver. What I need, it seems, is a longer lock bolt with longer threads. Do you have something that will work?

Thanks for the pictures John! I reached out to Yakima and they are aware of the double wall receiver on the new Toyota's but do not have a solution for it as of (09/12/2024).
The only solution I have for you today is to drill out the threads on your bike rack and use the etrailer Hitch Receiver Lock item # e98881. This is designed to fit both 2" and 2-1/2" receivers so the diameter will be the same and the added length will get you past Toyota's double walled receiver.

Thanks for the quick reply and potential solution. I don't think I'm going to go this route yet since drilling out the threads will eliminate the anti-rattle function they are designed to provide. For trips where I don't need my rack to be locked to the car, I guess I could also use a standard 5/8-11 bolt with enough length to get through the receiver.
