Can Harbor Freight Haulmaster Hub Be Replaced with Standard Hub
Updated 09/03/2024 | Published 09/02/2024 >
Question:
Is it possible to replace the hub assembly on my harbor freight haulmaster 1720lb trailer with some industry standard components? I have had endless problems getting the bearings tensioned and 1 hub likes to lose Bearing Buddies unless they are glued in.

Hey Dan, thanks for reaching out!
I can help you get some standard parts on your Harbor Freight Haulmaster, but we'll likely have to get you new spindles or a new axle for that. The spindle on a trailer is what determines the correct bearings so if your current setup doesn't use standard bearings then there isn't a way to "force" standard parts to work.
What bearings and grease seal does your trailer currently use, and what are the hub center and spring seat dimensions of your axle? I'm attaching a photo showing where to find those measurements.

The hub face to hub face is about 56 1/2 to 57 inches Spring seat to spring seat is 47 inches The bearing is 25mm ID The dust seal says 30 52 10 on it Xike 30205 bearing kit is installed now and appears to be identical in size to the HF bearings (which are also marked 30205) Thanks!

Jon, Also worth mentioning that I am using the Provider 175/80R13 wheels on this trailer. I had to add about 1cm of spacer on each side. Thanks, Dan
