Does Using Roadmaster Spare Tire Carrier Affect Tongue Weight of Flat Towed Vehicle Setup
Updated 01/27/2026 | Published 08/26/2024 >
Question:
I installed a roadmaster spare tire carrier on the back of my motorhome. I did not realize that it would affect my tongue weight capacity. How do I get around that and improve my tongue weight capacity to flat tow a vehicle?

Hey Stu, the great news is that when you flat tow a vehicle you don't have to worry about tongue weight as flat towed vehicles don't put any vertical weight on the hitch since they are supported by two axles unlike a trailer.
