Is It Ok to Mix and Match Trailer Tires With Different PSI Ratings

Updated 01/19/2026 | Published 08/02/2024

Question:

Hi, I need to replace one of my trailer tires on a duel axle boat trailer - Ranier ST 205/75 R14, Load range C, 103/99M, max load at 60 psi. Some of your tires are max load 50 and some 60psi. Does it matter if I replace one of them with a 50 psi tire while the other 3 are 60 psi?Thank you

Expert Reply:

As long as the load capacity is enough, then you're good to mix tire sizes with different PSI ratings. With them only being different by 10 PSI I'm not particularly worried about it, but It's probably a good idea to just use all of the same tire.

Hey, how did things go with replacing the tire on your boat trailer? Did you end up matching all four tires or just swap the one with the 50 psi option? Your update could make it easier for the next person deciding between mixed tire ratings.
