Question:
The wheel bearings blew out in a 1969 boat trailer I recently acquired. I would like to replace the entire hub assembly with a pre-greased set to make things easier. I took a few measurements and would really appreciate help ordering the correct hub assembly! The axle isn’t marked with a weight rating but measures 1 3/4” in diameter I believe it’s a BT8 spindle I will include a photo Spindle diameter 1 1/16” The inner and outer bearings are marked L44643 The grease seal outer diameter is 1.983” could not get an inner diameter measurement due to damage

Hello Eric, thanks for reaching out. The # L44643 inner and outer bearing combination is still commonly used along with the 1.98" seal. We do offer a pre-grease hub that fits your specifications, I just need to confirm your hub bolt pattern to make sure you get the correct hub. We have both 4 on 4 and 5 on 4-1/2 hubs available so please confirmed which one your trailer uses. Here is what I recommend:
- Trailer Idler Hub Assembly for 2,000-lb Axles - 4 on 4 - L44643 Bearings - Pre-Greased # AKIHUB-440-2-1K
- Easy Grease Trailer Idler Hub Assembly for 2K Axles - 13" to 15" - 5 on 4-1/2 - PreGreased # AKIHUB-545-2-LFEZ-1K

Hey Eric, did you get a chance to confirm which bolt pattern your trailer uses for the new hub assembly? Knowing how the pre-greased hub fit could really help others working on older boat trailers too.
