Recommended Replacement Hubs For 1950s Boat Trailer

Updated 10/07/2015 | Published 10/06/2015

Question:

Hello. I have an old 1950s boat trailer and want to replace the entire hub assemblies on both sides. I need new hubs with 1.25 inch inside x 1.25 inch outside bearings to fit a straight spindle. Do you stock them? Thanks.

The best way to fid replacement hubs for your boat trailer is to find the number stamped on the bearings in the hub you have. I have attached a drawing that shows where the numbers can be found. If you can not find the bearing numbers, you can use a digital caliper like part # PTW80157 and measure the spindle in the noted locations.

The trailer hub assembly I recommend for a 1.25 inch straight spindle is the Trailer Idler Hub Assembly, part # AKIHUB-440-2-1K. This assembly is designed for 2,000 lb axles and has a 4 on 4 bolt pattern. This assembly comes with the bearings, races, seal, grease cap, wheel bolts, and lug nuts.

Another option to consider that is specifically designed for marine use is Trailer Idler Hub Assembly (Galvanized), part # AKIHUB-440-2-G-1K. This assembly is designed for 2,000 lb axles, has a 4 on 4 bolt pattern, and is rust resistant. This assembly comes with the bearings, races, seal, grease cap, wheel bolts, and lug nuts.
