Updated 07/24/2024 | Published 07/23/2024 >
Question:
I’m hooking up a battery maintainer for my brake buddy, what wire on the 4 way connector do I hook up the Red wire that comes off the battery maintainer, since the black wire is hooked up to the side of the towed vehicles’ battery. Any assistance is greatly appreciated. Thx Leo

Hey Leo, if the tow bar lighting your setup has is a 4-way which only carries the lighting functions you'd have to change connector style to allow for charging as none of the 4-way functions would be able to carry a charge circuit.
So what you would need is to swap to a 5-way like with the part # HM47910 at the front of your tow vehicle and then if needed change your coiled adapter to a 7-way to 5-way like the part # C84HR. The fifth circuit of the 5-way would get ran to the positive post of your battery to provide a maintenance charge.

James, let me 1st start out by saying, I’m sorry I gave you some bum scoop! I’m hooking up part#39332 battery maintainer for my brake buddy system in the tow vehicle and I’m working with 6 way plugs on both ends, but on the vehicle six way there are 4 wires running into the plug, colors are white, brown, green and yellow and on the battery maintainer there’ the black wire with a metal ring for the positive side of the battery and the red wire for attachment to the vehicle 6 way, but what color should I be hooking it for proper installation? I was going to send you pic’s of both 6 way and color wires I’m dealing with, but I can’t seem to attach them for your viewing! Any assistance is greatly appreciated. Thx Leo
